Stephanie Payab has worked full-time in real estate for the past decade. She first joined Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices, California Properties (formerly Prudential) as a part-time Realtor in 2003.
How do you remain true to yourself and find your own voice in your industry?
“Like any other industry, real estate is ever-changing and being a Realtor is far different now than even 10 years ago—although to me, the core principles of the industry remain the same. I believe it is the excellent customer service that I provide that has allowed me to build my business through referrals. My clients know that I will go the extra mile for them and that I will work hard to get them outstanding results.”
Give us a few tips for finding work/life balance.
“It’s challenging as a mother of three to find balance between work and life. I’ve found that the best way to get close to balanced is to surround yourself with good support—both at home and in the workplace. In order to be successful in the field I live, eat and breathe real estate, just as I live, eat and breathe life and family, and all the enjoyment that comes with that too.”
What is your best piece of advice for a female entrepreneur just starting out?
“Be brave, confident, dedicated and strategic. Being an entrepreneur will allow you to take control of your life, your future and your destiny. It takes a lot of hard work and dedication, and it’s not easy. You need to build your business, network, build a name for yourself that resonates with people, manage to pay the bills and do your best to stay in business year after year. These things can’t be achieved without confidence in yourself and your abilities, determination to forge through the tough times and envisioning (and then accomplishing) your goals.”
What would you like potential clients to know about you?
“Buying or selling any property can be a very stressful experience. In my role as broker, I help my clients navigate the complex arena by being completely hands-on from start to finish. In addition, my ability to creatively solve any complex situation that arises—coupled with my no-nonsense, straightforward style—helps pave the way for transactions to go as smoothly as possible.”
