Baby-Proof Polish

For me there's nothing like a freshly polished nail and eye popping new color on my toes. No matter what kind of week I'm having the chance to sit back and get pampered at the nail salon can rejuvenate me in one short hour. Then I get home and between washing dishes, bathing the baby, gardening etc etc I seem chip my nails in record time. Luckily they've invented something genius - gel nail polish.

February in the Garden & A Unique Giveaway

February in the Valley garden means prune, feed and weed, weed ,weed! Yes, you can still plant too, but maintenance and clean up are the keys to getting your garden ready for upcoming spring planting. These may not be the most glamorous of garden chores, but tackle them now and your garden will love you.

Beautiful Day + Big Dog + Baby = Mama in Motion

It feels like just a few short months ago when I could strap my tiny baby into the Ergo and zoom up and down the trails of Fryman Canyon with my trusty dog Bark Lee. Now days I still have the big dog but I also have one big baby

Good Heel Hunting

Garden Spotlight: Climbing Hydrangea

I am forever searching for flowering plants that will do well in part shade. Only half of my backyard gets regular sun, so that’s where the vegetable garden went. The rest has its sun partially blocked by either the garage or a humongous Ash tree. The big problem is finding a flowering vine for an arbor that separates the back patio from the main yard.

HAUTE Little Helpers to Achieving Red Carpet Looks

Some red carpet secrets to achieving those super smooth looks in a skin tight dress.

New Year, HAUTE New You!

Happy New Year, Hautties! :) To begin what is sure to be a FABULOUS 2012 (and kick off my first blog post for Haute in the Valley and OurVenturaBlvd.com!), I wanted to reflect on literally the ONLY thing that keeps me motivated to work out in these “winter months”, since I know so many of you are starting new exercise regimes this month.

Baby Steps

Ever since I found out the Creation Station in Studio City teaches a ballet class for kids 18 months and older J and I were eagerly (ok me) awaiting her 18 month birthday! Yes my husband was a little hesitant asking, "isn't this something she should decide on her own?" Hello, I'm not exactly sending her away to the Bolshoi Ballet just a cute little studio on the second floor of the Marshall's center. Plus the Bolshoi doesn't accept students until 2 - kidding!

THE SIX - Rustic American Fare in Studio City

The Six, a new restaurant in Studio City, has come from the westside to make its second home in the Valley. Here are the results of our taste test.

January Tips and To-Do's to Keep Your Garden Fit

Ok, so we're sitting here in the second week of January with bright sun, warm temps and no rain. Plants are popping up in the garden that should be, and I am watching the buds on my peach tree start to swell. Of course that as soon as I post this, the temperature will probably plummet and a cold storm will sweep through the Valley driving everyone back inside, I thought it would be a good idea to encourage you to get out into the garden while it's still warm and dry. Each month I'll post some easy to accomplish gardening tips and to do's to help keep your garden, whether you have a 'back 40' or a tiny patio, healthy and beautiful.

Joan's on Third Coming to the Valley

Joan's on Third is making plans to set up shop in the Valley - yet another Westside restaurant to come over the hill.

The Little Ones Take a Bao

I'm always on the hunt for delicious places to eat with my little one that won't turn into a stomach turning experience. The last thing you need as you try and tame your tot is for strangers or staff to cringe every time food hits the floor. So on a recent Saturday night, along with our family friends who have their own little one, we ventured to the new restaurant Take a Bao in Studio City to give it a try.

Get Eco-Centric With Your Christmas Tree

I know it seems like only a couple of days ago you were hunting for the perfect Christmas tree to adorn your living room...but now it's trash right? Why not use it as garden mulch instead? Here's how.
