Benita Bike’s DanceArt
April 22 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm
Benita Bike’s DanceArt returns to Los Angeles Mission College’s Campus Center Building on Thursday, April 20, 4:30 pm with an interactive dance program that delights and inspires. Join folks from the community and Mission College students/faculty to share some dance! The College is located at 13356 Eldridge Ave. in Sylmar. This program is funded, in part, by a grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs, City of Los Angeles and Los Angeles Mission College’s AGS, and it is FREE!
During its 36 years, Benita Bike’s DanceArt has performed across New England, in Europe and throughout California. This five-member modern dance company has received praise for its beautiful, polished concert work and its extensive community outreach programming. Like a string quintet, the dancers of Benita Bike’s DanceArt perform with uncommon sensitivity to one another, bringing intense beauty and vibrancy to each delicately crafted, expressive movement.
This L.A. Mission College performance features newly reconstructed “Old Postcards from Europe” and a new dance work to be premiered at this show. “Old Postcards from Europe” is a romantic interpretation of found antique postcards with a remembrance of those who perished in the Holocaust (WWII). The DanceArt Company’s newest work – temporarily called “Organ Dance” – uses new music for the organ as a springboard for lots of unusual and quirky dance moves. Don’t miss this dance work premiere!
