Most restaurants have a special Mother’s Day menu, but these four 818 locations are special picks this year to make the celebration just a little bit different.

The Autry Museum: Get a taste of the Old West for Mother’s Day at the Crossroads West Café and then spend some time enjoying the exhibits—or visit the zoo across the way. Enjoy such entrees as the Autry croque madame, a skillet sausage sandwich, cornmeal pancakes and sirloin steak. Also offered: mimosa, champagne and a spicy Bloody Mary. The kids’ menu is $6 with a choice of silver dollar pancakes, cheese omelet, chicken tenders and waffle grilled cheese.

Descanso Gardens: Celebrate Saturday or Sunday with buffet brunch by the Patina Group in Descanso’s beautiful rose garden. The menu will include juice and coffee, a pancake bar, eggs, home fries, bacon, sausage, hangar steak, mac ‘n’ cheese, pan-seared whitefish, mini cupcakes, macarons and other baked goods. Saturday seatings: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m.; Sunday seatings: 9 a.m., 11 a.m., 1 p.m., 3 p.m. Members $50; non-members $59. Children 12 and under: $19 for members, $23 for non-members. Reservations required by May 8 at noon.

High Tea Cottage: This quaint teahouse feels like a home away from home, tucked away on a side street just south of Topanga in Woodland Hills. High Tea Cottage is offering a special Mother’s Day Tea with seatings at 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 1 p.m., 1:30 p.m., 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. Tiered service includes cheese, paté, organic salad, tea sandwiches, scones, chocolate cups, petit fours, chocolate mousse and select teas. $55 adults (with jewelry for mom); $30 children ages 9 and under.

Sweet Butter Kitchen: This Sherman Oaks hot spot for relaxed, outdoor, urban dining is offering an afternoon tea from 3 to 6 p.m.  If you can’t make it on the day itself, Sweet Butter offers tea service daily. Reservations for tea must be made 48 hours in advance. It includes five types of tea sandwiches, four sweets, fresh fruit and cream. A choice of beverage includes coffee, assorted teas, homemade pink lemonade, iced tea or an Arnold Palmer. $18.95 per person for up to eight people. There’s also a private afternoon tea for up to 22 people with a seven-day advance notice.
