Coffee Fix Raises Their Bar in Studio City

Coffee Fix has been a neighborhood hangout in Studio City but reached new heights in 2018 when a couple of regulars (who met there) took over.

Coffee Fix has been a low-key place to get a caffeine fix in Studio City since 2003, but the shop has become even better since John Kalosh and wife Ruby took over last year. The couple had their first date at Coffee Fix, which has always been a special place for them, and they’re paying it forward with a refreshed space plus thoughtful coffee drinks and food.

Their notable coffee program consists of a two-group Brasilia Gradisca espresso machine, XTS batch brewer and locally roasted Forge beans. Art of Tea and Cake Monkey pastries also play key roles at the café.

The kitchen doesn’t close until 3 p.m., leaving plenty of time to order breakfast bagels, sandwiches and yogurt parfaits. Coffee Fix’s lox bagel is particularly popular, slathered with cream cheese and piled with sliced tomato, cucumber, onions, capers and silky smoked salmon. Their breakfast bagel is another top seller, teaming soft scrambled eggs with Jack and Cheddar cheeses and tomato. Lunch brings Black Forest ham, turkey, tuna salad and chicken salad to the mix.

The airy, glass-fronted space houses white and grey art-lined walls, a floral mural on the back wall, and a mix of table and counter seats. A gigantic elephant family mural on the outside wall welcomes guests and speaks to Coffee Fix’s staying power.
