Igloo Parlor is a new Sherman Oaks business that specializes in rolled ice cream—a growing, Instagram-friendly trend. Armen Kesablyan, an engineer for leading tech companies like Google and advertising giant TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, would frequent the neighborhood for dinner and took over the former Three Dog Bakery this summer.
The glass-fronted space features limited sidewalk seating, a powder blue and white color scheme, and cartoon logo with bulging eyes and four ice cream rolls rising from a repository in their head.
Begin your frozen journey with either ice cream or frozen yogurt. “Ice creamistas,” the ice cream equivalent of baristas, form thin rolls on a frozen surface, incorporating a variety of fruits, sweets and nuts at your request. Consider options like cherries, dragon fruit, coconut shavings, crushed Oreos, almonds, cashews and/or pistachios. Armen is enamored with the ice cream roll process, saying, “It’s the quickest way for fresh ice cream. Thin layers allow the cream to freeze quickly and melt quickly also.”
Igloo Parlor also sells four different signature specialties, including Cookie Overload with crushed Oreos and cookie dough balls blended in your ice cream, and a house-baked cookie of your choice on top. Breaking Fast is a sweet take on breakfast with organic frozen yogurt mixed with strawberries and bananas, all topped with granola. Very Berry Delicious and Care for S’more are more self-explanatory.
