Loteria Grill Says Goodbye to Studio City

Jimmy Shaw shutters the Studio City branch of Loteria Grill after six years, continuing to serve modern Mexican food at five other LA outposts.

Monday, August 22, marked the last day of business for Lotería Grill on the second floor of Studio City’s Laurel Promenade, punctuating a successful six-year run. What prompted the closure? Mexico City native Jimmy Shaw says, “As we go to $15/hour, we’re focusing on the smaller restaurants going forward. We’ve loved being a part of the Studio City community and are very grateful for how welcome we have felt. We, too, are sad to move on.”

Devotees will still be able to enjoy Jimmy’s cooking. He continues to run five other Lotería Grill locations throughout LA, including The Original Farmers Market, downtown’s FIGat7th TASTE food hall, Santa Monica, Westlake Village and, closest of all, Hollywood. Shaw notes, “We are already seeing many guests loyal to Lotería Studio City making their way to Lotería Hollywood and Farmers Market.”

No word yet on what will replace Lotería Grill at Laurel Promenade.
