Ventura Boulevard is hardly facing a sushi deficit, and yet sushi bars continue to open along the Valley’s favorite 18-mile stretch. Sushi Ganzo just debuted in Encino Commons in the former home of Sushi2u, bringing a wide variety and welcoming setting.

The space features an open-air bar area facing Ventura Boulevard with black and white tile floors. Further back, a sunken dining room hosts dark wood tables and chairs and a counter facing open kitchen backed by white subway tiles.

The sprawling menu touts more than 200 items, including sashimi or sushi available either a la carte or as part of omakase. Share-friendly starters include pan-fried beef gyoza and chicken karaage. You’ll also find creative rolls dressed with myriad sauces, including the spicy “fireman” roll and signature Encino roll.
