The Sauce has been ever so polite and friendly … but still can’t seem to get a call back from ambitious Valley restaurateur Richard DiSisto about what exactly is going on at Tipple & Brine’s former Sherman Oaks location, 14633 Ventura Boulevard. Same with the adjacent address 14649 Ventura Boulevard, former home of DeSisto’s Downtown Johnny’s—now closed but apparently under construction for a new venture.

But as we (and several Sauce readers) have noticed, a sign is now up announcing that Tipple & Brine will soon be The Sherman, which—given DiSisto’s resume—we assume is also a restaurant … not, say, yet another doggie day care on the Boulevard. And they’re hiring: contact info@TheShermanLA.com.

And re the former Downtown Johnny’s: Perhaps they are not the definitive source, but on a recent Sauce drive-by, the construction crew (interviewed on lunch break) said they were at work on a new “sports tavern.”
