There’s little doubt what to order at & Waffles, the new breakfast and lunch spot on a prime NoHo corner near Universal City. The issue: What to eat with your waffles. Their waffle combo is a good place to start, with two airy rectangular waffles plated with two strips of bacon, two links of maple pork sausage, three eggs (any style), sliced strawberries and whipped butter.
Waffles provide a canvas for savory, Texas-style fried chicken breast or sweet strawberries with whipped cream. Breakfast sandwiches include a hearty serving of Cajun-spiced fried chicken breast with two eggs and syrup. & Waffles also serves dessert versions slathered with Nutella and whipped cream, and waffle sundaes with vanilla ice cream and chocolate syrup. Powdered sugar makes frequent appearances.
The owners also swear by breakfast burritos featuring hulking flour tortillas packed with potatoes, eggs, cheese, salsa and possible proteins like Polish sausage, pastrami, chicken, chorizo and bacon. Lunch largely focuses on burgers, sandwiches and salads.
