When sisters Kari Caden and Lori Caden started Caden Concepts, a brand development/promotional merchandise business, in 1998, Lori had already worked in the industry for a few years but relished the opportunity to build her own business. Along with sister Jodi Caden, the three sisters and best friends always dreamed of working together. Then the idea came to them suddenly, and Belly Bandit® was born on Mothers Day 2008 after Lori’s first pregnancy. Belly Bandit® features compression garments that highlight fashion as well as functionality and are made especially for women’s “body after baby.” Jodi also owns a custom cabinetry business, Caden Design Group. “We each have our own passion,” Lori says, “and I think working together allows us all to use our strengths symbiotically to create products that combine all our talents.”
What would you like potential clients to know about you?
“We understand the importance of customer service. Without customers, there is no business. Whatever you are looking for, we will help you find it. If it doesn’t exist, we’ll find a way to create it for you. We respond to every email, phone call, comment and suggestion personally. We listen to customers’ input and needs and use many of those suggestions in the creation of new products.”
Do you and your family members spend time together outside of work?
“Oh yes, we are inseparable. And our parents visit every six weeks. There is nothing better than family.”
How does sharing common values with your family give you a competitive edge for your business?
“While we don’t see eye to eye on every topic, we are all striving for the same thing. The goal of overall success and staying ahead of market trends is something that drives us all.”
What’s most rewarding about your work?
“Hearing women’s success stories and seeing results after using our Belly Bandit® products.”
How do you stay on top of the latest trends and advances in your field?
“A lot of shopping, reading and sourcing. We find that solutions sell! For example, our compression line called the Mother Tucker™ is created in response to women who share the same issues regarding their `spare tire’ or `muffin top.’”
